Location and surroundings
Ameland is a Wadden Island with a very distinctive nature and culture and is not called the Wadden diamond for nothing. The island is 28 kilometers long and has an area of 273 km2. The four villages, which have all been declared protected village areas, are Hollum, Ballum, Nes and Buren. Ameland offers a variety of flora and fauna and amazing beaches and dunes. There are also many cozy restaurants, terraces and beach pavilions for a nice drink or a delicious meal. There are also museums to visit and numerous sports and recreational activities available, including many water sports. Nes is the largest village on the island and also the place where you arrive by boat.
