Location and surroundings
The Frisian town of Earnewald is located between Leeuwarden and Drachten. It is a real water sports village and in summer it is buzzing with activities. Earnewald is the venue for one of Friesland's most famous sailing events: the 'skûtsjesilen'. The village lies in the middle of National Park De Alde Feanen, a vast area of peat bogs. This beautiful area is best discovered by boat, canoe or sup. At the park's visitor centre you can get information about the area. Earnewald also has no less than three museums and a gallery worth a visit. So there is plenty to do in this cosy village.
